Hello all,
This is my first post here after lurking some. Y'all have some AMAZING tanks! I'm jealous : ) I'm in the process of planning my first viv, and I would like a water feature. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Zoo med waterfall kit. For about $20, it "includes a Water Pump, Hydroballs™, Terrarium Mesh, Plastic tubing & Plastic Elbow" (according to their website).
It seems like a good deal, because most of the pumps I've seen cost about as much as the whole kit. Can anyone offer any advice? TIA.

Hey mate.

Welcome to the board :D

From what you say it sounds like a pretty amazing deal.

I myself havent had any experience with it, but if it does have all that stuff in it then Id definately get one.

My only concern is, it probably wont contain enough leca, mesh etc to do your whole tank, so you'll probably have to buy more of this anyways.

You may infact get more for your buck, if you just buy all your supplies seperately, you can pick up pumps fairly cheaply, over here an ehiems compacts are brilliant, and cheap as chips.

Lets us know what you decide on.

Hey mate...

Im still not up to speed with all these american terms lol, like 20high and stuff...

Over here we just use the dimensions to let folk know what size tank were talking about :p

Much easier haha.

I guess it is only $20, so you might aswell get it, and if you dont have enough of something you either improvise, or just buy a small amount of whatever it is you need...

I recieved this kit as a gift. The pump is small and has different speed settings. The pump is amazing and works really well. As for the hydroballs and mesh net and plastic tube, they barely give you enough for a verticle 5 gallon tank. For $20 its worth it because the pump works so well. But dont think you can build anything bigger than a 5 gallon vert, there is to little supplys. You will have to buy more hydroballs and a longer tube.

Its deff worth it if its only $20. A while ago it was $40 bucks for the whole thing. Then it wasnt worth it. But for $20 I would buy it. The pump works really well. Its one of my favorite pumps. You will need more tubing tho and hydroballs. I used my pump in a 18x18x24 exo terra. I had the tubing go all the way to the top and made a waterfall out of it. The pump I had running for 5 months constantly for my Monkey frogs untill now because I took it out to use in a newt tank.

Hey everyone,
First post here. I have always been interested in darts and am finally setting up a tank for them. :)
I got one of the zoomed tanks, and have been thinking of getting this. Do any of you think that the extra water will cause any problems as far as smelling or mold or fungus? I know I have to keep them moist anyways, but I'm just wondering if this would be TOO much. My room mate for school next year is already going to put up with a saltwater tank... Wanna make sure not to push him over the edge. Haha. So just wondering about any possible smell from the excess water. I'll be using cocoa fiber bedding if that matters, and probably leaf cover, which is what I'm most worried about. :)
