I am looking at getting Mite Spray for my fruit fly cultures to prevent any infestations. I was wondering if this would be a safe one? Its Premo Guard Mite Treatment spray. Its primary ingredient is sodium lauryl sulfate which is the same for JurassiMite and Miracle Care Reptile Spray. It just seems like everything can potentially harm the Dart Frogs. I've read that using the spray on paper towels is effective, and seems less messy than DE.

Sodium lauryl sulfate is a surfactant that kills insects by dehydrating them when they're sprayed with it (basically, it washes off their waxy coating). I would not expect this to work as a paper-impregnating product for the exact same reason that washing your hands by rubbing them against the dried soap scum in the sink won't work.

Permethrin works to make DIY mite paper, though not as well as a layer of DE in a tray in my experience (and the one time I bought mite paper, it didn't work at all). None of these products need to be particularly safe for frogs, since they shouldn't be anywhere near the frogs (best to make DIY mite paper in the garage, or outside, and bring it in after it is dry).
