Hi Everyone,
I know there are a lot of you out there who love orchids and take great joy in keep, propagating and photographing them.

If you will help me I'd like to find out what you have, where their from, photo's of your plants and any helpful info or tips you might have on keeping them in a vivarium.

If you'd like, tell everyone what's on your wish list, or reference a place to get vivarium worthy orchids.

I currently only keep Pleurothallis mathildae, purchased from a local greenhouse but Andy's sells it as well.

I dont have any pictures of it and have only managed to get it to bloom once. I am bad with this whole plant thing

16 species of Restrepia, maybe a dozen Bulbophyllums, several Dendrobiums, Masdevallias and Pleurothallis are the vivarium friendly orchids I keep now since I drastically reduced my collection. I have some bigger Paphiopedilums and Phragmepediums as well, and I get them from a lot of different places...usually eBay these days. Most of what I have is in vivs or soon to be put into a Viv. I just am too busy to maintain much more of a collection, although now that I am in Cali I seem to be accumulating more Nepenthes.

Honestly they are outside year round on my porch now. Living right by the beach in so-cal has it's advantages

you've never had heat issues? Also, my biggest failing with them (only had two rather sickly hybrids I found at a local nursery) was the medium and watering schedule I was using.

Should have known better, but according to the info I was given, I kept them in pro-mix and had them sitting in watering trays.

Only phragmepedium bessae can take that much water. Mine are grown in rockwool cubes in fairly open orchid pots. No heat issues, as it rarely gets above 85 or below 50 here. I have a Nepenthes maxima on my porch doing well also.

Yeah, I think they both were Bessie hybrids, but they still didn't do well for me. The one eventually put out some knew growth, but they were rather weak looking. And by the time I got around to switching it out to dryer conditions, it was too late.

Sounds like you have some rather ideal growing conditions there. Shame you don't have more free time

PS those rockwool cubes are a great medium. Really cut down on my use of spagnum

I especially like your Sophronitis Brevipedunculata, Haraella Retrocalla, and
Aerangis Biloba pictures. Any tips on where you look for orchids?

I have had good luck with dracs. you can get them from andysorchids or i bought mine from seattle orchids.

keep in mind that Porpax, and those other terraced, succulent type, epis, are rather unique for the genus, and that the majority like high light and dry conditions
