Jace,

Your success with only getting 2 frogs and getting a pair wouldn't have anything to do with the breeder working with you and trying to sell you a sexed pair would it? lol

Glad both the vents and retics worked out that way for you! Did you see the pic Sarah posted of the retic with the tad on the back? The adults are the parents of yours.

Na its all me, Just Kidding. I knew that you ladies had tried to pair up your Retics and that worked. Thanks by the way. The vents also ended up a big fat pair. Thanks by the way. I cant wait to see if these are viable. I also wouldnt mind if they would lay in the blasted film canister.

Jace,

I placed two film canisters in my vent tank one half way up on the right side of the tank. 1/4 to 1/2 full of water placed vertical. The second was placed 3/4 of the way up on the left side of a vertical 10 gallon at a 45 degree angle 1/4 to half full of water. My vent group doesnt seem to prefer one over the other and will lay eggs in both containers.

BTW congrats on the retic eggs.

Vizla,
I agree that vents seem to use either the black or white (high or low, vertical or horizontal), but they will not lay anywhere but the film canisters. I like this, its the retics that just laid in the bromeliad for their first clutch ive seen. I am hoping they will lay in the film canisters next. They are always hanging out in there so why not bust out a few clutches. This way i can get them before the monsters do, which is the fate im sure this guy will have.
Also Vizla are my favorite hunting type dog.

melissa,
i was wondering what color they should be and im happy to know this might be viable.

Everet,
thanks for posting the image, eventually im going to learn how.

Jace,

if you want the retics to lay in the film canisters you'll probably need to remove the Brom. otherwise you'll probably end up with them laying in there everytime. I found this out with the vents when i placed a brom in their tank to help fill it in....bad mistake They went from laying in the film canister to the broms. I ended up tearing the brom out every time to get to the eggs. After a week of doing this i got fed up and just removed it.

Good luck with yours.

Matt,

I have many broms in with my vents and they still always lay in the film canister. Then again, they have always had film canisters and broms have been a recent addition. For the first time ever in the many years I have owned them, my pair are actually transporting the tads. It is awesome to watch. So far they have transported 3 to a brom and 1 to a brazil nut husk!!!!

Bright neon and bright Retic

I have two broms in my with my vents, (and two film cannisters). The broms have always been there, I added the film canister when I found an egg on the glass. They've laid multiple times in both canisters, never seen an egg in a brom (but who knows it gets murky in there).

Hello all
I just went up and check on the retic egg. It appears to be developing, which doesnt mean that its going to hatch, but its a good sign. I have removed the entire brom so that i can coral the frogs into the film canisters.

Then when i came downstairs, i heard the phone ring. I answered and it was my friend Zach. He said our Brazilian Yellowhead Tincs had finnally laid eggs. We have 6 of these and one pair finally scored. It took forever, compared to all the other frog pairs. This was his first breeding at his site, so he was real pumped up.

Hello all, a little update here
Okay, My first retic egg dissapeared after i pulled it out. i kept it in the brom and one day it was gone. Then after i had removed all broms i waited. i had like 5 canisters in various places all over the viv. the went in but would not lay in there for a least a month. Then i gave in and put it a new bigger brom. The same day i looked in and found two eggs, not in the brom but on a pothos leaf (pic in gallery). i removed the leaf. Why wont they lay in canisters, just preference, if i keep only canisters in there will they eventually give in. If i keep the brom in there will that totally make them want only broms? Why did they lay on the leaf, why are they driving me so crazy.
Also in my gallery is a galac about to finish morphing and a clear vent tad check em out. i just added these after i shot them yesterday.
