Generally you want to wait until the pup is 1/3 the size as the mother. I have cut them smaller but they take forever to grow out if you do.

I prefer to wait until they are at least a 1/3, preferably 1/2 the size of the mother. The longer you leave them attached, the faster they grow, once you cut them, it takes them a little bit to start growing again since they have to grow their own roots, supply themselves with all necessary nutrients, water, etc.

Very nice looking brom though, and that pellonia in the back corner is one of my favorites!

Thanks, got it from a board member, bristles, he must know what hes doin. Ive only had it 3 weeks

I use it in quite a few of my tanks, seems to shingle better than most of the other pellionias. I also love when it gets older and gets larger leaves (I have some close to 3" long!). Overall a great viv plant though. Once it is growing well, you can also pinch back the top to get it to branch a bit more. It could definitely cover your whole background in less than a year if you allow it.
