I have built tanks using 1/4 inch acrylic. I am now going to be building a tank that is 24x24x30. I am going to be using glass for the sides. What thickness glass should be used?

I am using 3/16 for my tanks that are 32x30x20, sliding glass fronts, so the can never be filled with water. I am using the egg-crate false bottom to keep weigh to a minimum.

Hey Scott,

I got the track from OutWater and been playing with the idea for a few months. We built a test tank awhile back and I love it. Only have a few pictures right now.

New tank, size with a lot of work to be done.
And the smaller prototype....

Sorry the pics don't show much.

I have not built a tank from scratch, but I have rebuilt tanks to be front opening and made tracks from 1/4 inch aluminum U's you can buy at Home depot or Ace. I used 1/4 inch glass for the front and added a felt strip to the bottom of the U to make it slide better. Just another idea. You can see a couple pics in my gallery:

Sorry I don't have a close up of the door...
We used a plastic sliding glass door track from Ourwater and it allows the
doors to be removed by picking them up and swinging the bottom out. I will try and get some more pictures posted by monday
