Whats this white stuff on my driftwood? Is it harmful to frogs? The woods been baked for 6 hours at 200* and scrubbed with a bristle brush and hot water.
Has it been used before? do you know anything about where it came from? and is it only on the top part, or is it all over?
My guess (based on not much...) would be maybe some salts or minerals are in the wood, and during soaking, migrated and crystallized towards the top of the wood as the water evaporated.
See if it rubs off, or wipes off with a damp cloth, or fizzes with vinegar/acid?
I'm viewing the photos on my phone and it's hard to tell... Almost looks like the usual mold that grows on driftwood After the first few weeks. If that's the case, it usually goes away eventually.
