what is the best rock to use for a waterfall? i want to make it flat, smooth, to where the water trickle and not really falls i guess, anyway yall know what i mean. slate or shale or something? and you can buy singles at rock gardens or whatever right?

If you are trying to get a stairstep type waterfall I would say go with the slate. Just stack it so it creates the stair type look you want. But if you are talking more like a river bed type stream you can accomplish this with some window screen and fiberglass resin. Just depends on the look you are trying to accomplish. You could also use a piece of wood and have the water drain down it. Especially if the wood has a small valley or trench in it. If it doesn't you can carve it out a little also. Sorry about all the babbling on but just throwing some ideas out for ya.

ya the slate idea is what im goin for i was just making sure if that was the right type of rock for pH...etc.
