If you were using the top for a horizontal tank then its actually a wonderful top. You can swap out the rear plastic slip on for a screen vent of the same width and you would have the perfect setup.

I'm kind of thinking of putting that gap towards the front of the tank, not sure how I'll feed through the back, but I noticed the front of my tank gets covered with condensation and the back remains clear because of the screen. I would really love that clean glass on the front. Still thinking on how to do this without it being too complicated to feed.

You can hot glue gun the vent to the front and slide the glass to the back. It really just shifts the door to the back and there shouldn't be any complications.

Are you using the actual screen framing?
