I bought a room ultrasonic humidifier, but when I went to get the PVC supplies to hook it up, I got stuck. The opeing on the humidifier is 2 1/2 inches on the top and gets smaller down the opening. I could only find reducers at Home Depot that go from 1" to 3/4". What do you guys stick in the humidifier and how do you reduce it to a smaller tube? There is a long piece of plastic about 5 inches long and 1" wide. Can I break that or is it needed?

get a Rubber stopper/reducer from the plumbing dept at Home Depot. I bought a 2" stopper and worked perfectly. Then I fit in 3/4" pvc into the hole in the stopper.

My stopper had small holes around the side, but I just put electrical tape over them.

If you still do not find what I am referring to or are just confused by what it would look like, let me know and I will take a pic of mine for you.

I just use 2" PVC to fit straight into the humidifier. The pipe will be about 2 1/4" O.D. so it works great. You can reduce from there if needed.
