i was collecting some liverwort spores from a river bank on sunday when i noticed fairly large patches of green moss. on closer inspection it revealed itself to be made of lots of whisps just like algae except it was growing on the river bank completely emerged from the water. it looked really cool and i am wondering if it could survive in a viv.

it was most likely actual algae of some sort that was just kept constantly wet from spray or splashes of the water or constant humidity pocket. would have to see it to be sure, but as long as you keep it wet it should survive fine. However i dont know that you would want it to. algae will spread and grow in any environment unchecked unless there is something to curb it. chances are, you might end up culturing nothing but algae in the tank that you put it in.
