I have a 20long that has been set up for about 8 months now and I feel as though I am ready to put a couple frogs in it finally.

So other than going ahead and getting Springtail and FF cultures going.
I was thinking about either a single Dendrobates Tinctorius "Azureus" or a pair.

is this tank size acceptable?

Also the temperature is a concern.

It drops down to about 68 at night and 73 during the day as a high.

is this too cool?

Its a very basic little viv with no fans in it I was hoping to install a small fan somehow just havent yet.

other than that what do you guys think?

heres a picture or two.

Thanks guys!
It's one of the first. The big tank behind it is a work in progress.

I wanted both springtails and fruit flys for variety for them.

Also, what about ventilation? Is that critical?

And... I have those grey mushrooms pop up constantly and increasing in number! This last bloom a few days ago was around 15.
Is this normal?/okay?

Oh I do that daily!
Just was worried about air movement and temperature mainly.
They have plenty of hiding places in the back corners and under plants if need be.
And there is a thin (1-2leaves deep) leaf litter that I collected locally and have boiled and cleaned which had been in there for at least 6 months as well.

I do believe I had some sort of bugs in there at one point before I recently used dry ice to fertilize the plants a little.
They were white and small and jumped a lot. Normally stayed around the base of the bromeliad and the dead mushrooms. I would say they were some species of springtails but ... I killed them all in the gas treatment :-(

I live in the basement of a bilevel home. So the temps in the basement are the same.
Lighting is not exclusive to the 20L
It's a retrofit fixture mounted from the ceiling.
(4) 46" T5 HO BULBS (3) 6500k and (1) 4500k ran on an ICECAP 660 ballast suspended about 3 feet above everything.
Since its winter I have to move everything I can inside which means all my palms, crotons, orchids, broms, etc come inside.

LED's are powerful when done correctly.
But if your worried about temperature why not just stay with T5's ?

If anything I suppose I should get a small heat mat

Brandon there is so much PAR produced by my current setup if I drop it any lower I might as well be growing these plants on the surface of mercury. They are still getting slightly burned when it's 3 feet away and taken a month and a half to get them up to 8 hrs daily. Haha

Your current spectrum isnt incredibly conducive to plant growth.

Not sure what you mean by fans Todd is selling :-/

So the money has come in and I'm back from vacationing in south Florida and the keys and I feel it's time to make my first dart frog purchase!

Putting dendro Azureus in the 20L while the 65 custom built is still under constructo mode.

Wondering if I should just order one or two at the same time...

Thoughts?
