Hey, my new tank that i just built smells funny. It actually smells like a new car belive it or not. It doesn't smell like silicone and i let it cure for 3 days before i added any water and made sure that it had no odor at all to it. Since i put it together though, it has developed a wierd smell. The plants have already rooted and have started to perk up very nicely, so i dont think that it is bothering them, but i am getting frogs soon and i wanted to know if i should worry about it.

Here is the original pics of the tank.

I would suspect your waterfall - i believe it's made of the same material as many new car interiors.

Take the top off as much as you can get away with and let it air out more.

If you can get rid of the smell put the top back on. If the smell comes back I would guess that your waterfall is outgassing.

Like I mentioned... give it a couple days to outgass (without a top on if possible). Once you've got the smell gone... try covering it again.

I think if the smell comes back you'll probably want to pull it.

Just my opinion.
