I'm slowly setting up a viv for reticulatus and I was wondering if its possible to just use charcoal as substrate? I would add a thick layer of leaf litter on top of it. Pretty much a giant springtail culture. Is there a benefit to using other material mixed with the charcoal? As far as plants would go, I probably would just have a pothos on the ground level. I searched but could not find any posts on just charcoal as substrate, sorry if this has been covered already.

I got a couple groups of frogs from a guy that set his up kind of like that. It was just charcoal with about an inch of sphagnum on top. They were pretty well grown in when I got them.
