I'm about to finish up my remodeling and was wondering how thick should my substrate be? my false bottom is about 4 inches tall which leaves me about an inch of substrate. Right now it hasn't been packed down much and I'm not sure if that is enough? I used sphagnum and peat mix with a little coco fiber. However I didn't chop up any of it so its very grainy. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

I like to have my substrate at least 2 inches deep so the plant are anchored down and have an area to root. With only 1 inch I don't know if the plants would stay up, probably depends on what plants you choose and their size.

awesome! Thank you, I was thinking that I didn't have enough, but its hard to tell on some of these forums what everyone's doing for thickness--. Since I tore out the bottom of my tank I will be looking to allow more room for my substrate this time around. Thanks again!
