I successfully seeded my viv with springtails. I tip my culture until some water pools and I suck them out with a turkey baster and pour them Ito the tank. My problem is that the colonize wherever I pour them. They won't even venture to clean up decaying frog poop 4-5" away from where I put them. The result is that they are creating suceasful mini-colonies in one spot instead of feeling through the whole viv and eating decaying stuff. I have one colony on one log, one colony on another log and a colony on the other side of one log to clean up the poos on the magnolia leaves. Am I doing something wrong?

Give them time. Why leave the garden of eden? Eventually they will breed and have to spread out.

Tossing in a few mushrooms will really get them going!
