Ive been thinking about on my next tank either a 40 or a 20 when im doing my substrate dumping a whole container of springtails charcoal and all in the tank then putting the ABG mix on top of it. That way they have some time to breed and reproduce and it should have a huge amount of springs in the viv.
Will this hurt anything? Has anyone done this before?

I do the same thing every time I build a viv. 1/2 a spring culture mixed with substrate and a 1/2 culture of woodlice. My spring cultures are charcoal, my woodlice on madrone bark. Mixed with coco coir, and more madrone bark for a complete substrate layer.

woodlice are larger, and can be purchased from many sponsors, or members. Several types are available, I would reccomend dwarf white tropical woodlice. The adults are rarely eaten by thumbnails, while the immature are relished. Adult tincs, leucs, etc love the adults too.
