The silicone will work. keep in mind that when you use the great stuff, it will further reinforce the panels. I used GE silicone II for window and door. I chose the brown color. It does not have mold inhibitors either.

It didn't say it on the window and door kind. Not sure about the kitchen and bath, but I wouldn't buy it. At least not for this purpose.
