It should be okay
I have done the same thing (puget sound) and it has worked fine for me. The wood keeps for a really long time. Mine has no rot on it at all. I let the rain wash it out, and hosed it down really well. I even have some micro fauna come out of it, and the froglets seem to really enjoy those. So try and see. I had no problems with mine.
