I assume it would be of small benefit so you can keep your rack lower to tanks that dont open from the front. For example, getting in a 55g thats top access only you would have to leave the rack above it way up so you can getin, where as on your rack you can slide it out then pop the top open. So you wouldnt need the extra room abover it.

ALTHOUGH, I have all front opening tanks, so no reason to ever need access to the top of my tank. It wouldnt benefit me at all.

I have an 18x18x24 zoomed... and an 18x18x24 exo... stock... one has GS background that was made.. other is clay background.. one has gravel as drainage other is egg crate false bottom. I tossed a piece of glass on top and good to go. I have tincs in one and auratus in the other.. I did no flyproofing and have no issues. I actually keep this in my kitchen. Thats the bottom rack. My 2nd rack are all 10 verts with azureus and green/bronze auratus in them. Got the vert kits from junglebox. I have no problems with flys at all. I use melanos.
