We have kept various darts under power compacts, T5's, T8's, and even T12's with no problems. As Ed says, as long as meet the needs of the frogs, and watch your temps they should do fine. Some people have noted that Granuliferus breed better under low intensity lights. It can really be more about what kind of plants you wish to grow. If it's all about the frogs, and you are fine with low light plants like pothos, you can even get away with T12's

Having the bulbs a couple inches away should be plenty. If they are still too hot, set up a small fan blowing across the top.
