I am currently building a paludarium for some d.auratus and mourning geckos, both Already living happily together. The water space is going to be around 30 litres. However the swim space is going to be around 30x40 cm and around 20 deep (in terms of water depth). I’d appreciate some advice on fish species I could have in this area. I was thinking maybe a Betta or Enders or galaxy rasbora. Any advice would be nice. P.s yes the water is heated and filters.

Hello,

We do not recommend mixing species of animals.
It serves no benefit to the animals and presents risk of inter species aggression and disease / pathogen transfer.

We also don't recommend that people setup paludariums with dart frogs in them. The water section is a complete waste of space for the dart frogs and unless the terrarium is several meters long then there simply isn't enough space for a water section like you are planning.

Anyways, my advice on what aquatic animals is: none.

I highly discourage water features for most dendrobatids, and mixing species.

Problems with water features:
-Risk of drowning
-Saturating substrate
-Alien bacteria
-Losing important ground space for the frogs
-Making humidity too high

Problems with mixing species:
-Different husbandry requirements lead to compromises
-Risk of pathogen transfer
-Risk of agression

I keep a betta in a paludarium. There are two other types of fish, one a guppy. You have to keep an eye on a betta with other fish. I also recommend shrimp.
