What do you all do with the gravel, leca, dirt/dead moss, plants, water pumps etc when you move your frogs into a new home? I've been throwing a lot of it away and have a couple of totes of gravel on my back porch that I'm not sure what I should do with it. The water pump I really would like to use in my next tank and the gravel seems like a waste to throw away (I think at leas I"m going to use it planters etc.)

the gravelcan be boiled and washed to clean ti. Boil about a gallon at a time for 15 to 20 min. Rinse well for another 10 min. As for the pump us a 10% bleach solution, soak for 30 min, and run 4 or 5 gallons of water through it and it should be like new.

You can never have too much gravel. I bought a ton of stuff for fish tanks, and over the years have used it for potted plants, decorative scree for Lithops, etc. I would just give it a good rinsing, spread it out on some old towels or something to dry, then just store it in the totes somewhere. It will come in handy down the road...

Make sure you're gravel is not coated with anything before boiling it. I have seen warnings on some aquarium gravels that warn against boiling because it breaks down the coating, and becomes toxic somehow.

gravel

Usually, not always though, only the unnatural colors that are coated with a polyresin to give them the garish colors. Also cheaper compants sometime put poly on because it is cheaper and quicker than tumbleing the gravel. If unsure if the gravel is coated or not place a small handful in a cooking bag, and test it. if coatid, it will come out a gooey mess. Make sure you use the bag, it will ruin a pan.
