I was wondering what light fixture I need to grow tropical plants? Both terrestrial and aquatic. This is the only thing I can't figure out on my own. I would like to get it all from Home Depot or Lowes. So if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be awesome!

u don't need THAT bulb specifically. just a bulb with a color temperature of 6500 k

Ya basically you need a 6500k bulb remember not a 65 watt but 6500k temp.... I made that mistake when I started. Basically anything in blue packaging.....

If you're shopping in a big store like home depot look for the word "Daylight" on the packaging, not "Soft White" or "Bright White" You don't want the "Aquarium and Plant" bulbs either.

hey guys Ive been everywhere today and I completely forgot about a light fixture I never used! I remembered it after this whole ordeal. But anyways will a 8000k 17W Daylight bulb work?

really depends on what ur gonna put in there. if its only gonna be pothos, then anything works. but most plants do best at 6500k

Hmm next time I go to the pet store I'll get a bulb like the one you are saying. I also have a smaller CFL 5,600k bulb with it pointing at the terrestrial side.

u could always just type in 6500k and the kind of light bulb (cfl, flourescent tube, etc) for the search thing on home depot's website

the ones from amazon work but the shipping will porbably make it pretty close to 10 bucks anyways
