What would be the best way to grow up some newly aquired Java Moss?

I was thinking a plastic sterilite bin with water covered with a sheet of glass and a 6500K above it. The java would be in about 2-3 inches of water. How often to change out the water or should I use some sort of aerator?

Or should I try to grow it out of water all together. I am trying to get it to grow into the terrestrial form.

Take a 1 gallon bag and spread out a thin layer of moss to fill the inside of the bag. Spray a little water in there, blow some air into the bag, seal up the bag and put in under some lights.

I took a 10g tank, covered the floor with clay, spread the java moss over it, added water till it just covered the clay. Topped the tank with glass.

Didn't have any idea if this was a good idea or not, but, today when I checked on it, I saw all kinds of new green growths coming out. My plan is to leave it be until the tank is full of the stuff.

Next I'll be working on one for riccia.
