I'm not too fond of sphagnum (reminds me of orange shag carpet ). I like a green moss and a horizontal growing variety (so low and dense). I'm just not too savvy on the types out there other than the ones I mentioned. Any help would be appreciated.
I prefer sphagnum, but I also think Selaginella would look very nice in there. It is a low growing ground cover that has an irridescent colors, one type has a blue color to it.
I will try to get a pic on monday i will be out of town with the military and dont have time to get pics before i leave. I will post it on a diffrent topic as not to hijack mikes disscussion......I have a Live source so I dont have to wait on it to come back to life.
OT: not trying to hijack! Mines is coming back to life in shoeboxes very quickly, then I transfer itto the viv, seems to be working good, but i just am scared its will get long and leggy.
If you could pm me about its growth habbit that would be great.
Me too please! Maybe I just haven't seen any "good" sphagnum? I can't seem to get it to grow/turn green except for very small areas sporatically.
Hmmmm.
Selaginella is an option. How fast does it grow? I know I can get some from the nursery around the corner from me.
I just don't want all of my tanks to look the same.
Please keep the ideas flowing and if someone has pics of their tanks with the different mosses if you could pm them to me or just point me in the direction that would be awesome!
Derek-the bird's nest snake plant is my staple plant. It's actually spreading in my 55. I planted 2 and now I have 4.
Lighting is going to play a big part in trying to keep moss alive. What type of lighting do you have over the tank? It doesn't seem to be very bright in the picture.
