Alright im going to go ahead and start my 20g conversion discussed here:

http://www.dendroboard.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1804

I need a strong sealent to combine these things to reduce shifting. Will plain old silicone work?

Also im thinking of cutting the black frame off the top of the aquariums. I just need to know if the aquarium on the bottom (which will be full of water {paludarium setup}) will crack due to water pressure. Is the egding there for support, or for looks?

BTW the one on the bottom has finished cycling, and is already planted. I plan on adding fish, but i dont see how i can add a filter withought having to resort to a sump. Any suggestions? :?

Silicone on clean glass is incredibly strong. With that said, I still think that I might be inclined to use an additional piece of glass as a backer along the seam if I was going to try your project. However, I would probably just put my money into buying some 1/4" glass and building my own before trying this with two 20 gallons.
