Nail polish remover is acetone. Acetone can vary in purity and may or may not leave a residue.
You say you filled it up. You mean with water, as in to rinse it out?
Personally, I like to do a final wipe-down with rubbing alcohol after working on my vivs.

How do you do this "wipe down" ?? And what is it that you are "wiping down?"

Pour some rubbing alcohol on a cloth and wipe out the inside of the viv to remove any residue.
