My plan, am I on the right track?

Hello this is my first post. I think I have an idea of whats going on here, but I decided to flex my MS paint skills, to get your opinions.

Obviously this is pretty rough, I just want to know if the basic concept looks ok or if I'm on the wrong track.

Thanks!

Good point. I will build a wall of egg crate around the watered section so no frogs make their way down there.

The tank will be a 20H. For lighting I'll run 55w PC.

I actually haven't decided what frogs I'd like to get yet :D. I love the azurues coloring, but I want something that uses the height of the tank. I love the leuco coloring as well but the shape of the frog is kind of porky from the pictures I've seen (maybe I've just seen lots of fat frog pics?). So any suggestion in the frog categoery is welcome :).

Is it possible to keep venus fly traps in the frog enclosure? I think they would be a pretty killer addition... and since I'm already growing flies... :D.

Thanks for the help!

Also, with a false-bottom tank, gravel is not nessesary. It "can" go water--> PVC support --> false bottom --> screen (not metal) --> substrate (ie. coco fiber covered with moss and/or leaves).

The false-bottom replaces the gravel (I think that is what's shown in your diagram)

I just wanted to let you know that my azureus do use the upper regions of their tank. We had four in a 29 gal bow front, now cut down to two because we pulled out a pair! :D ! We have a pretty big piece of wood that is part of the water feature and some taller plants. We also have some air plants on the back wall in the cork panels. I have seen the frogs cover every inch of the tank. It is pretty comical to see one of them using the long spiny air plant (sorry I'm not good with plants  ) that is in the top corner of the tank as a spring board! It is almost like they enjoy playing on the different plants.

So point being, don't be worried that they wont use height, because they can play all over the place if there is enough for them to get into! Good luck!

Yeah my azureus use the upper parts of their tank as well. When I moved and redid their tank, I put soem large driftwood pices in the tank to give them something to climb on. They like to climb on the plants but they are not very graceful and seem fall alot since they are so fat.

So I guess that is something to look forward to huh?! lol Mine aren't full grown yet so they haven't taken any huge leaps yet! At least I haven't seen them, yet. I bet it is pretty funny though to watch them.

We also use clay balls were you have your gravel (you can get these at hydroponics stores), I put them in mesh bags that are meant to hold fish filter media and stack the bags to give different levels then cover with moss or what ever you will use, I then back fill all the little cracks with lose clay balls so that the frogs cant get down behind them.
(you can see them a little on the left in this picture http://webzoom.freewebs.com/our_fish/clayballs.jpg )

AND good luck with the frogs they are so much fun :D
