I have one tarapoto just OOTW that is melanistic, and is now very much chocolate-colored. How long did it take before the melanin faded a bit and it began to reveal its normal skin undertones? Or, was it born with these muted undertones visible from the outset?
Hey susan, I actually got these guys when they were about 8mow. From what I've seen in past threads frogs typically got as "colorful" as they were going to be at 3-4mow. The only reason that you can really see the color and pattern in my pics is because I typically boost contrast or create an HDR image to show as much detail as possible. With the naked eye though they are quite dark.
