This is what happens when it's too cold here in the Northeast to ship bug cultures so they just keep multiplying.

And this is after a bunch of them buried into the substrate when I popped the top off the culture.

so send me a PM when you are able to ship...what other cultures do you have??
Nice! How long did it take you to get those kinds of numbers, and what are you feeding them?

I'd say about 2 months. I alternate feedings between fish flake food, baby cereal, and vegetables of which I'm currently using pumpkin.
I received a starter of a dozen of these about 2 months ago and I doubt I have half as many. I feed fish food exclusively. I house them on abg mix with a bunch of crushed leaves and cardboard on top, although the cardboard is now all rotten / falling apart so the culture is pretty messy looking. Also, I'm constantly moving stuff around to feed and check on the little boogers. The mites and springtails that got into the culture probably aren't helping, either =/
Those guys look tasty :)

I wish my isopod culture looked so nice. I don't have nearly as many in my culture; I'm just feeding yeast, though, I've been too worried about the mites from fish food.
Gary! nice culture! Once those oranges get going they really get going!!
My culture doesnt look that good eather, any other specifics you could give to help out would be appreciated!
Gary is a master of the isopods! I know he has a secret:). Now give it up!

Sorry, no earth shattering secrets. I tend to keep things pretty simple. The culture in that picture is just coco coir for the substrate, just barely moist.

I think the only other thing I do differently from others is the amount of food I feed. I tend to feed heavy once a culture starts to get established. That container is a 2 qt container. When I feed I sprinkle on 2 tsp of food over the top of the culture. And I'll feed every 3-4 days.
