Hi Addicted2darts,
When I only had one pair of D. leucomelas, I would play the call back to them and the male would become very territorial immediately. He would find the female and try to wrestle her (I assume to keep her from responding to the other male) and start calling immediately. It was such great fun, that I would play the call back to the male for hours at a time. I felt we were really "communicating" with each other.
Now I have so many pairs that they all call to each other and the recording isn't necessary.
