In your 2nd example photo (The Exo comparison shot) - is that one or two 12W units on the right tank?

Hi Afterdark,
The 12 x 12 x 18 tank is just being lit with one 12w LED light.

Hey I live in las vegas and my tanks are hard to keep below 80, right now I currently use 9 watt daylight bulb switching from the 13 watt daylight because of the heat and the 9 watt is a little cooler, I can actually touch them while they are on without burning my fingers. My only question are these new leds even cooler to the touch, I need asmuch help as I can get and these leds look like a great option while brightening up the tank as well.

Thank's Matt.

Hi Matt,
9 watt daylight? I assume it is a compact fluorescent?
These run cooler because they do not project any heat. LEDs produce low to no infra - red light(heat).
I doubt you will save much in heat by switching from a 9w cfl to one of my LEDs.
These still do give off some heat.
However, you would get allot (ALLOT) more light.:D
What size is your viv?
Thanks, Todd

My lights are compact fluorescent and I have 2 10 gallon horizontals side by side which use 2 bulbs, these are my hotter tanks and then I have a 12x12x18 exo using 1 bulb and 2 18x18x24 exos using 2 bulbs each. All of my tanks use exo or zoo med hoods raised above the tanks.

Most folks do get some break from heat when switching to LED lights.
On my own tanks, I usually see about a 3-4 F reduction in temp.
But it would be hard to say how your vivs would turn out because there are so many variables involved.
Like: is the room a/c?, do you have fans circulating air? etc.etc.

I guess the best thing is to try one or two of the 12 watt ones and see! :D

You certainly will be doing your plants a favor going from a 9w CFL to these!

Thank you,
Todd

Overall I would like to get 5 led bulbs not only because of the heat but the quality of light as well, any deals on ordering more than 4.

Hi,
The 4 for 99.99 for the 12w's is the best deal.
For any number over 4, just add 25.00.
My website will compute quantities over 4 at the lowest price.
Thank you for your interest!
