I was feeding my springtail cultures today and found these large (in relation to the springtails) white worms. They look almost like fruit fly larvae. I was only able to find them on one charcoal piece in one culture. I separated the culture from the others and took out the charcoal. Could the worms be the larvae of escaped fruit flies? Or are they a different pest?

Yes, I agree those do appear as fruit fly larvae. It only takes one escaped preggo female to produce what you see :)

I found the same thing a couple weeks back in a springtail culture stored near a FF culture that had a loose lid. Turns out the larvae just loved the brewer's yeast the springs were eating!
