Maybe I posted this in the wrong section last time so im re-posting it here.

So has anyone tried klean-strip green odorless mineral spirits?
Welcome to Kleasstripgreen.com

Description:
Odorless Mineral Spirits
Klean-Strip® Green™ Odorless Mineral Spirits is made with 65% more renewable resources and has 65% lower fumes than traditional mineral spirits. It has a unique, patent-pending formula containing Odorless Mineral Spirits and has 65% lower VOCs than regular mineral spirits. It contains no Hazardous Air Pollutants** and no ozone depleting chemicals.*Neither this product nor any of its ingredients are considered to be flammable liquids by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. **Hazardous Air Pollutants as defined by the EPA.

I can't find toleune or xylene anywhere and this seems to be a better alternative, I am not sure if it would leave any sulfur residue or not. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated as I have a lot of vines I would like to get covered soon and it has to be done indoors.

Thank's Matt

Nobody at all? I haven't seen anyone mention this product and I have spent hours searching the forums trying to find an answer but nothing. I know ED mentioned you could possibly use artist grade mineral spirits, and I have seen many others use it but I really want to make sure this won't harm my frogs or not. You know I really thought if I asked for some advice that someone would be willing to help but I guess not.

Well I picked some of the The Klean-strip green odorless mineral spirits its also non flammable which is a plus, but I am still not sure about using it. Has anyone else had any problems with using the regular mineral spirits which is flamable?

Here is your MSDS. http://www.rockler.com/tech/RTD20000145AA.pdf

Why does it have to be done indoors? According to the MSDS, even though it is oderless, the fumes are still quite hazardous.
Thank's Pumilo. Recently it has been real windy here if we get a break on the wind it will be done outside if not it will be done in my garage either way I will be wearing a mask. What do you think about using the product? Do you think it would be safe?

Thank's again Matt

Honestly I'm not qualified to answer. I can't make heads or tails out of all that. Except that a simple mask would not be enough. You would need a full on respirator.

I haven't tried this, but I've thought about it. What if you put a latex glove on, filled your hand with a BIG glop of silicone, and pulled your rope/vine through it with your silicone filled hand gradually closing around it as you draw it through?

I still can't comment on if it's safe or not when it evaporates. But look near the top in the green box #3 Hazards Identification. Breathing too much can cause convulsions, long term neurological and physiological damage and even death. A mask will only keep out particles, not fumes. You need to be in a very well ventilated area.

When I said mask I meant respirator.

I am not qualified to give an answer either, but I would say probably not. I do not know enough about VOC contents to say if the 32% VOC is meaningful, but under the Ecological concerns....

In slow water-flows, a film may form over the water causing asphyxiation. Don't know if this will be a problem, but even if not, it still has "compotents" that are potentially toxic to fresh/salt ecosystems... :(

Look under SECTION 12 of the MSDS...

"TOXICITY: This mixture contains components that are potentially toxic to freshwater and saltwater ecosystems.
This material may be harmful to aquatic organisms and may cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic
environment. In stagnant or slow-flowing waterways, a hydrocarbon layer can cover a large surface area. As a
result, this covering layer might limit or eliminate natural atmospheric oxygen transport into the water. With time,
if not removed, oxygen depletion in the waterway might be enough to cause a fish kill or create an anaerobic
environment. This coating can also be harmful or fatal to plankton, algae, aquatic life, and water birds."

Yes, that's a good point. If it evaporates 100% it seems like that really wouldn't be an issue.
