It's done for the most part. **UPDATED**

Web page has been updated too. It's done with the exception of the two pieces holding the door closed. Those are being laser cut tomorrow.

I'm thinking I can do away with the piece on the inside of the door. I will still have a small piece about 3-4" long on the opposite side of the hinges to act as a door stop so it doesn't swing through to the inside though. I'm also going to try out using rare earth magnets to keep it closed, I think that would be pretty nice and work very well. Like I said on the web page, the gap around the door is roughly .012" so sealing it seems like a waste of acrylic to me as the holes in the mesh are 3 times as big and those are only 0.8mm! let me know what you think.

Paul, that's a beautiful looking tank... Can you come up with a 62", 16:9 ratio design??? I'm thinking of replacing my TV with one of those.
No problem. I'll put the door on the side so the front is unobstructed. Want a quote? LOL
hm... let me weigh this out ...

Pros:

Perfect rainforest setup that I've been dreaming about,
beautiful showcase,
conversation piece out of this world
room for lots of pumilios
endless possibilities for design

Cons: Divorce

I'll get back to you on that one, have to think about it

what guage thickness of material would be used for such a large viv :?:
1/2" to 7/8". Depends on how much water it was going to have in it.

FCA's amazing cube

Hey I have been watching your posts here and am impressed with your design. I have two questions however, discount on a order of 75 of these with standard misters and unassembled, I pick up/ no delivery? And could I get a version 16x24" front to back with a removable 12x8 screen insert/ top. for UV light transference?
G
oops

Ok I posted that last one and then realized I didn't give enough info, so... that would be a second vent behind the misters and the size is only approximate. I would think the same width as the front one only 8" deep, and how much do you think this would affect the ability to keep the front glass clear? thank you much.
nimo-

I have OP-4 acrylic so I can use that instead of the screen and you'll still transmit 99.9% of the UV-A and UV-B without effecting the humidity of the tank.

Email me the exact dimensions of what you need and we can discuss this further. paul AT firstclassaquatics.com

Thanks

fca cubes

Hey I din't realize that op-4 had that much uv transference that is great. The dimensions I am looking for would be both the standard 16x16 you currently have and then antoth version the smawidth just 24" fron to back. Another question is could the top be made removeable ie thumb screws to atatch it or would there be to many warp issues? I think that the wrping wouldnt be a problem and if you ran tabs all around the top about one inch deep then you could attatch the top that way. Also the number of each size I am looking for would be dependaent on cost right now i am looking for 27 16x16 cubes and 54 16x24 cubes or if the cost is significantly less i will go with 81 16x16 to start. you can email me direct at [email protected] with costs etc. Will you be at the Indy swap on next sunday? I am planning on going and would like to see these first hand with the ne modifications.
Email has been sent.

Hello and congrats . they seem beatiful vivs.

Weird question, but do u have a clue of what it would cost to ship one of those to France, please?

Thanks
It is $79US to ship to the UK via USPS airmail, so it would be roughly around that price.
i know you said it would be cheaper to put them together ourselves. how much cheaper would it be and what tools/supplies would we need to assemble it. thanks josh
You would need Weld-on #3 or #4 and an applicator, a right angle jig (something to hold the pieces at a 90* angle) and clamps, and a router to flush cut the parts after assembly. Savings is $30 off retail price. Some pieces come already assembled. Things like the vents already have the screen installed and the front with the door is already assembled. I haven't had one sale of a tank unassembled though. :D

I can't be sure from the pictures on your website, do the viv inserts that are for mounting into store bought aquariums have top and bottom vents?
