I've decided to make a ten gallon invert tank, and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for finding some instructions on making doors for them. I'm at a complete loss right now. much appreciated. oh, can I get glass cut for me at places like home depot?

There is already tons of info here on making vert tanks.
As far as the glass, the stuff at home depot is paper thin, and the thinner the glass, the harder it is to work with. Also the slip on aquarium hinge that most people use is only (as far as I know) made for 1/8" thick glass and up.
Find you'reself a nearby glass specialist, if there are several, get quotes from all of them, sometimes the price differences in cut glass can be suprizing, and substantial.
Have fun,

How about like this?

I'd go to a local glass shop, preferably a small family owned place. I paid $1.50 for the two pieces for my vert and the guy smoothed and polished the edges for me for free. He was glad I came in cause he said he has lots of small pieces laying around like what I needed and if I needed more to just let him know. Plus, Home Depot cuts glass like a 4yr old.[/img]

thanks

thanks for the help, I think I may use his design as well. where can I get the supplies to finish off the door? it looks like he uses some kind of hinge, but I'm not exactly sure what.

For the aquarium hinge you can get it at: Outwater
You can get the hinge to fit up to 1/2" thick glass panels

For the top of the door, on thumbnail tanks only I have been using a clear plastic u-channel to fill the very small gap created by the tank frame.
I get this at: US Plastics I take a flat screwdriver and run it down the channel a couple times and it fits tight on the glass.

I do have a page on my site that has the basic installation, but its not finished yet.

Hope this helps,
