Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on this board keeps their intermedius in groups, since imitators are. Would it be bad to keep four unsexed intermedius in one tank that is 22 inches tall, 10 by 12 on the bottom, and well planted with a water feature? Thanks.

I have a group of 0.0.4 in a 15gal vert. Please feel free to PM me in a month or so for an update. I have had them for about 1 month now without any problems and they should be breeding age in the next couple of months.

Ok, thanks for the replies. What is the general consensus on whether intermedius are a different color morph of imitator, or a subspecies?

I don't know if this answers your question directly but thought I'd share.

Phil Tan described the species:

"There is an orange form of the imitator that is called the tarapoto imitator (Tarapoto is the name of a city in Peru). Also, other form of the orange imitators are called the imitator-intermedius or intermedius"
