I will post pics in a little bit! i am gonna replace the gravel with dirt-coconut fiber. he is awesome supposedly around 1 year any input on age would help!

Luckily he's still growing, so it won't be too hard slimming him down. He looks just great and seeing his size I bet he's indeed not much older than 1 year. His tail's pretty long, so it's possibly a male, but you'll need to look at the cloaca. Caudata Culture Articles - Sexing

I've got 2 of them myself, and they were also obese when I got them. Ferocious eaters, curious and BIG. Think it's a brilliant salamander.

I am going to put him on coconut/sphagnum mix.

I do t think that it will be happy on aquarium gravel for too long. Try damp sphagnum moss so that it can borrow under the moss and feel secure and comfortable.

What I meant is that I think the salamander is beautifull/nice/wonderfull. My English needs work I guess. ;)

Nice looking Ambystoma! Just remember to keep him/her on the cool side. Higher temps can definitely be lethal.

Good luck, Richard.
