I got my tiger salamander tonight! Great color, i think so. He is fat...i need to slim him down a little bit...He has all toes and what not! I will post pics in a little bit! i am gonna replace the gravel with dirt-coconut fiber. he is awesome supposedly around 1 year any input on age would help!

Luckily he's still growing, so it won't be too hard slimming him down. He looks just great and seeing his size I bet he's indeed not much older than 1 year. His tail's pretty long, so it's possibly a male, but you'll need to look at the cloaca. Caudata Culture Articles - Sexing

I've got 2 of them myself, and they were also obese when I got them. Ferocious eaters, curious and BIG. Think it's a brilliant salamander.

I do t think that it will be happy on aquarium gravel for too long. Try damp sphagnum moss so that it can borrow under the moss and feel secure and comfortable.

Nice looking Ambystoma! Just remember to keep him/her on the cool side. Higher temps can definitely be lethal.
