I was wondering if anyone can take a pic or explain their hood setup and lighting specs to me. I usually make my own, but im interested in seeing other setups. Thanks.

I simply hinge two pieces of glass and get the full spectrum sunshine bulbs from home depot, and just set it above it. Cheap and easy!

I build my hoods too. This is the one over my 135 gallon viv. Its built out of 1/2 sanded plywood and pine. It sets on the to of the tank and bolts to the plastic lip. Everything is organized into layers: screen, then 6 T-12 40 Watt bulbs, a layer of MDF coated with aluminium foil tape, above all that are the vent and circulation fans and the plumbing for an irrigation system I never finished. It is hinged in the back with a 72in piano hing. It works well, but it is kind of heavy to lift. All the balast and controls are in the stand below.

I just finished my hood, still waiting for ahsupply to send me the 2x55w fixture. Nyc apartment living chalanges my inventive nature, so while this hood may not be a carpenters wet dream, it suits my needs and my plans allowed me to use defunct peices of furniture for construction.

I use a modified reptile hood to go under it.

I also put a cpu fan in the hole you see. Now to make the stand.. :roll:

I had a friend of mind design a cycle timer for me... The way it works is this...
I still use my regular 1 min timer, which is connected to the cycle timer. The cycle timer only turns on for the duration of a cycle that you can select with a potentiometer. Basically once power is applied to the timer it will go off after the cycle time.

I've recently improved my misting system too... Right now I have it connected directly to my RO filter/tank setup, then the tube feeds into a selenoid valve, which goes into the selenoid pump, which then pushes water through a 11 port manifold to each tank. At the end of each line I have non drip nozzles that require a min pressure to operate. Once the pump stops, there is no sputter. I have it set for a approx 7sec cycle every 60 minutes. Works like a charm... Oh, yeah, all my nozzles are adjustable and everything is push fittings, none of that steel ring clamp non sense. Once I finish my tanks I'll post info on my rack setup.

I found a company that does solid state interval timers, similar to what you described and had planned on ordering one, but never got around to it. If you can get a schematic and parts list that would be great. Thanks.

What's the company Green Air? Are you talking about the cyclostat 2 ?

No, I don't have the link anymore either to give you the actual name. They were a parts manufacture that made glass tubes and soild state interval timers. Was Green Air where the one you are useing came from?
