Hey guys. Quick Q. When doing the standard GS/Silicone Background, does the GS need to be roughened up before applying the silicone to adhere the cocofiber? I believe I had read somewhere you did but can't seem to find the info to make sure...if so what are the best methods for this? Thanks in advance.

I've never made it a point to rough it up before applying silicone, but I always cut and shape the GS to my liking, which ends up roughing it in the process.

I also have never roughed it up, but like freaky tah I do cut it to shape.

Roughing up can help. But the keys are lots of silicone (glovesglovesgloves), work in small sections, make sure whatever you're pressing in (cocofiber, etc) is dry, use more cocofiber/whatever than you think and really press it in...

This is the absolute worst part of building a Vivarium! ;)
Terrible terrible time-consuming, dirty and greasy work not to mention the sickening silicone fumes that makes your head explode in a symphony of pain and frustration over the project!

But no, you dont have to roughen it up for the silicone to adhere.
