Hi there! I've been investigating getting into dart frogs for a while now, and I've started taking some steps towards it recently. I just picked up a 12"x20"x48" terrarium that I'm hoping to convert into a 24x20x48, with a little bit of time and effort. If that goes well, next step is getting the plants set up and cycled, so hopefully by fall I'll be ready for a few frogs. Looking at either thumbnails or leucs, based on what I've read and also personal preference for looks.

I'm located way up in Maine, so not a big herp scene here, but I'm going to try to make it to our few local shows this year. From what I understand, meeting and talking to people in person is a big help!

Thanks for the welcome!

So I've changed my plans as I wait for more supplies on the conversion. Have a 36x18x24 Carolina Customs terrarium coming in on Monday. Should give me plenty of room to play with, and plenty of space for some frogs. For substrate, I'm looking at NEHerp's viv kits (or at least their ABG mix/substrate 2 with calcined clay). As far as plants go, a few bromeliad neos, maybe a jewel orchid, p. caperata, a fittonia, and an e. aureum at least. I have a small n. mirabilis that I think would be cool to add... if I were more experienced with both frog and plant care and was certain it wouldn't pose a problem.

For now, I'm really excited to get started on the terrarium overhaul, setup, and planting!
That's a great size :)
I'm afraid I was wrong - I ordered the 36x24x24, so I'm assuming that's even better. It arrived early, got here today while I was at work. I've now assembled it and will begin the scaping as soon as the rest of my supplies arrive - which I had held off on, expecting the terrarium to arrive next week...
