This time wikipedia is pretty close to correct but I would hesitate to recommend it for culture information.

They get about a foot long. I recommend a minimum of 10 gallons of water for each adult axolotl. long tanks are better than high or extra high tanks. They rarely metamorphose. Better than 99% stay totally aquatic. They do not go on land.

I learned how to use Wikipedia a while ago and it's usually not correct when it comes to animals in closed systems.. This question was for an actually keeper of this animal..
Fair enough. I may have been being a bit of a frog-snob. I was just pointing out that Wiki is a good place to start for the basics (size, basic behavior). I certainly didn't mean to squash any conversation, though.

Beautiful animals BTW. Hard to believe people want albino's when these exist.
