Fleas,ticks,mites whatever there invading my tank!!!!I really dont know what they are they are white tttttiiinnnneeeeyyyy little buggers but there all over the outside of my tank.My mom says find away of getting rid of them or the frogs are gone.Please help we've tried soap,raid and just straight squishing.What if I open the tank maybe the frogs would eat them.Please PLEASE help fast!!!!!!

They are most likely mites from you fruit fly cultures.

Raid is probably not a good idea around your terrariums...

Don't use any of the afforementioned chemicals around your tanks. Tiny bugs are a part of keeping vivariums. There's no real way to rid a tank of all microbes/insects without tearing it down and sterilizing it. Just wipe them off the glass before your mom comes in the room.

You could get some mite strips. Put them around the tank and around flycultures.

I know what you are talking about. We are not talking about some mites inside the tank or even a few outside. If its anything like we experienced, you have literally MILLIONS on your tanks and stands. First off, you need to locate the source of the infestation. Ours seemed to be attracted to grain type cultures, mostly the mini-mealworms but also took a liking to the rice flour beetle cultures. Once you find the culture, get rid of it. Its really not worth trying to keep. After the source is gone, you can wipe down the Outside of the tank with a diluted bleach/water mixture. After about a week, they should all be gone. Hope this helps.

Ditto Kevin's post. I had the EXACT same thing stemming from a superworm culture. It happened twice, about a year apart (in fact, in the spring both times now that I think about it). I did just as Kevin said... trashed all the oatmeal cultures (I was able to save the roach colony by replacing the substrate and disinfecting the tank). The superworm cultures I completely trashed. I then wiped everything (I mean EVERYTHING) down in the room where it was and they were gone a few days later.

I will say I have not had luck with this paper. I have many cultures on it, all spaced a few inches apart and mites seem to easily migrate from one to the other.

They definately like grain cultures like cricket feed or meal worm media.

Once they get into my ff cultures the production really drops off.

I am trying to locate a source of tedion a miticide for the cultures now.

And will try some of the miticide paper from Blk Jungle.

Go get a large ammount of carniverous plants and place them round the viv, they should attract and destroy any escapees before they got noticed

Right on Kevin.

For me the problem and source were with my FF cultures. I used to make cultures with a lid that had a hole and some shiffon fabric. I noticed that when mites would start breeding, they would always congragate in between the lid and the fabric. I got rid of all the cultures, started fresh ones from fresh stock in a different location, cleaned, vacuumed and disinfected the whole room with rubbing alcohol as good as I could. Waited about a month, got some mite paper and haven't seen a single mite since then. Also, I switched from the lid with a hole and fabric to some nice lids.

I got the mite paper from Carolina, and I live by it. It works great for me. I know if works, because if a FF takes a walk on it, she usually doesn't make it to the other side and drops dead. There are tons of bodies on the paper. It seems to control the escapees too.. They're drawn by the cultures, but the only way to get to them is through the paper, which takes care of them.

Perhaps I have a bad batch of paper?

I have never seen a dead fly or mite for that matter on this paper.

I think I will try another company and start fresh.
