I have a fairly large tank, its something like a 50 or 60 gal hex tank, and I'm raising a few juvi leucs in. Well, only 2 so far, the other 3 should be morphing out in the next week or two. Now, I now the first thing everyone will say "thats too big a tank for newly morphed frogs", well I asure you, there is MORE than enough mirco-fauna to sustain them. I watch them eat constantly. But my question is about FF larva. I placed pieces of fruit in the tank to attract the FF's, but in addition, the fruit seemed to establish additional FF eggs. Every 10 days or so, I notice a few dozen larva crawling around in puddles of water atop magnolia leaves that the little froglets seem to love. Whenever available, the frogs seem to devour the slow moving worms. I can only assume thier high fat content makes them a good meal for growing froglets, but I just wanted to make sure this was ok?? Can fairly newly morphed froglet eat so many larva at a time and be ok? Is this something I should stop or promote? All opions appreciated. Thanks! Shawn

Yes, the maggots are not harmful to the frogs. They are a bit fatty for them but some occasional feedings should be ok. Ill make a micro FF culture with a hole in the top so new maggots and flies can supply a steady flow to my newly morphed froglets. I wouldent use it as a regular food source though.
