Enclosure size for pairs?

Hey! New to the forum but not to keeping darts. Currently, I only keep Ranitomeya and am slowly expanding my collection. My question is, as I expand, what size enclosure would you recommend long term for your breeding pairs? I may keep a few groups and will, of course, keep them in something bigger.. but I'm trying to plan before I set up the room so I don't have to redo everything later. What would you guys suggest?

Currently I have 2 young pairs that are each housed in 12x12x18 Exoterra enclosures I found for cheap. Is this decent for Ranitomeya? Or should I ditch them and start over with upgrades?

I have pairs in a few other mis-matched enclosures that will be upgraded as well.

Thank you!

I keep my ranitomeya in 24x18x36" and 36x18x36" exo-terras. I have standards for frog enclosure size that goes against the common beliefs though. Most would suggest an 18x18x24" to be the minimum for ranitomeya. Larger dart frogs deserve more space. For tincs, phyllobates, and auratus/luecomelas, the suggestion is 36" length. 36"x18x24" gives you enough room to scape your viv and gives the frogs some height to climb. If you can go 36" tall for all your enclosures, your frogs will reward you and you'll be happier.

I keep my Ranitomeya and Oophaga pumilio pairs in 18x18x24" tanks, or larger.

Everything else gets a 36x18" footprint, usually with 24" height.

I have a pair of ranitomeya in an 18 cube but would like to upgrade eventually. I’m thinking of an 18x18x24, maybe even 18x18x36. It also depends on what frogs you’re interested in. If you want tincs, 24x18x18 is definitely the bare minimum and you’d be pushing it a lot. 36x18x18 would be more ideal and 36x18x24 would be the best bet. You could keep a smaller locale of tinc in a 24x18x18, but most people like keeping bigger ones like azureus.
A while back I upsized some Ranitomeya from 12 x 12 x 18s into InSitu Amazonias (about midway in usable volume between an 18 x 18 x 24 and 24 x 18 x 24) and found that the frogs are more bold and more active. Group frogs could use more space, but for a pair that's a pretty sweet spot in terms of size (IMO; I've not tried JasonE's recommendations but don't doubt they're valuable). I only use 12 x 12 x 18s now for growouts and temporary holding for frogs for sale.

I also use an InSitu Amazonia (23x17x24) for my ranitomeya. They use every inch of the tank, including the misting nozzles.
