Hello all,

I am in need of some more information regarding the conservation of these frogs. First, does anyone know how much % wise, of pdf habitat has been destroyed? Secondly, how many species have been affected by this loss? Also, are there any other individuals or organizations that are involved with their conservaiton? Any information would be appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks,

Ryan

I think it's nearly impossible to know what you're asking without doing extensive surveys and having an index to compare that to. I know personally I've seen D. granuliferus affected by development, but things like D. pumilio and D. auratus do just as well in development-- maybe better if there's a few extra breeding places or fruit trees for food sources. Now if they develop the Bocas like I've been hearing, then I think the D. pumilio populations there will be in a lot of trouble. Anything in South America I won't know for a few months, but it's a much more difficult question than you think. You also have to take account pathogens in this question.
