Hello,
I just picked up one of these cool frogs. Its a sub adult, unsexed at this time. I have read many ways of keeping them, such as inverts, long tanks, lighted tank, darker tanks-
Just want to get a few ideas from keeprs on good care. Its a orange phase.
Thank you,
TQ

I've got two D. galactonotus, one is very shy and stays in the top of the tank. It usally sleeps on top of the cork bark background and hunts aboreally. The other is more bold, spends most of the time on the ground and is the first frog out at feeding time. I haven't noticed any behavior related to lighting and my tank is timed to gradually light.

hello
I have a pair of galacs. I keep them in a 25 high. The tank has a waterfall from the top to the bottom. Its got a great stuff background with 3 larger broms mounted straight in. There is not real land area, but just rocks and pothos in the pond. Three big rocks coming out of the pond form the main land area. As far as lighting goes i have 2 18 inch 65k bulbs burning 12 hours a day. The tank is so tall that the light really doesnt make it past the broms that much. So yeah i would say they like shade. When i first got them they never came out, but when i moved them to this tank and started spliting up the group they breed and are now always out. Really some of my most active frogs.

Thanks for th info.

It looks like if, I provide lighted areas as well as shaded areas, they are fine. Mine is out in the open all the time, and loves to climb.
Question, what does a 95% orange galac look like? I cant seem to find a pic of them.

I wish you had said 95% oranges i got a post going on those forever. but im the only one who ever posts on them. Mine are almost completely orange except some belly spots. We refer to them as black gloves cause thats all that is black that you can see. They are some of the coolest looking frogs ive ever seen, but they must be scarce in the hobby. Cause ive only seen one place have them for sale.

those moonshines look great-
I think that I am going to creat a tank that has bright area, as well as shadow areas. I will let them chose where they like it.
Thanks for all the help-
TQ
