Can I plant a cryptanthus in one of my pots that are placed in the foam background without having root issues?

i haven't done that personally, but as long as u poke holes to let the water drain out, i think u should be good.

I see no reason why not, just make sure it is still receiving water. I have cryptanthus planted in driftwood, tied to driftwood with fishing line with sphagnum and some right in substrate and all are doing great.

ok, thanks. I was more concerned with the cryptanthus becoming rootbound and dying.

I have grown a few crypts by just wrapping the roots in LFS and pinning them to my foam wall with relatively good success
