I was wondering if it is safe to clean a new tank with dilute dish soap or if I need to mix a bleach solution. Thanks for any help.

STEP AWAY FROM THE DISH SOAP!!

Stick with a dilute bleack solution... kills the bad stuff dead, and with a brand new tank you're really just rinsing it out anyways. RINSE WELL AFTERWARD.

For used tanks, mild bleach and an algae scrubber do wonders, and vinegar to get off those calcium deposits.

Phew!!! Thanks for alerting me to the dangers of dish soap. It is a new tank that hasn't been used, it's just been in storage for almost a year. Would just rinsing it out do the job or do i still need the mild bleach solution?
